New in Nash: This Week in New Music

By Aaron Wagner

Dan + Shay just keep their momentum going this week with their new release “Glad You Exist.” It’s a song about being grateful for the special people in our lives: friends, family, and for the duo – their fans. While Luke Bryan dropped a new album last August, that’s apparently not stopping him from releasing new music. His new song this week “Country Does”, falls in line with the sound of his recent stuff.

Carly Pearce is hitting her stride and this week announced her new project 29 will be out in two weeks. “Should’ve Known Better” jumps out just based on the song title, but the whole sound is such a rich country sound that would be playing in the mid-2000s. Then there’s the legend Eric Church who released “Lynryd Skynyrd Jones”, a song that you must listen closely to the lyrics to get the impact of the song.

An artist that has in a pretty good grove as of late is Matt Stell and his new song “That Ain’t Me No More” is proof that he’s got no intention of going away. Canaan Smith is out with a new release this week with “Mason Jars & Fireflies” and LANCO drops another new one with “Near Mrs.”

Luke Combs discussed wanting to make a bluegrass album and while it may be a few years off, we got a preview of that sound with his collaboration with Billy Strings on “The Great Divide.” And lastly, a few years after most artists released renditions of the hit song “Shallow”, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood released their version this week.

Favorite Songs from Country Risers:

“Heart Shut” – Alex Hall and Tenille Townes: Alex released a six song EP that features collabs with artists like Brad Paisley and Vince Gill, but this song hits different. It’s so special. Their voices together just creates something so magical as cheesy as that may sound. I’ve had it on repeat all weekend.

“Everything I Love” – Temecula Road: This young trio of a band has incredible harmonies and you’ll be hearing a lot from them in the coming years. They signed with Warner Music Nashville in December and if this is a sign of what’s to come we’re in for a treat. I’ve been a fan of their music up until this point, but this song sounds like the real deal. It’s that good.

“A Home” – Levi Hummon: I like to think of this song as a love letter and man does Levi deliver a phenomenal performance. You come away know that this song means something super special to him and that he put his whole heart into it. I think this is a beautiful love song for young couples that just know each other.
