New In Nash: This Week in New Music

By Aaron Wagner

This week we get the latest album from Florida Georgia Line which includes the early favorite of mine “Always Gonna Love You.” We’ll be breaking down this album later this week and FGL’s status as a duo on an upcoming podcast, but initial listen has this album having some great songs and a few head scratchers.

Kip Moore released his deluxe version of his Wild World which was one of our favorites last year. The deluxe album comes with four new songs including “Man’s Gotta Do.” One of the best parts of this week’s releases is we get new music from Brad Paisley. “Off Road” is one of those songs that just sounds like a Brad Paisley song and I think he has a future radio hit here.

I’m cautiously optimistic that this is finally the year of Hailey Whitters. While we were fans of her Dream album last year, the songs she’s been releasing as part of the Living The Dream deluxe version have been some of her best, including this week’s duet with Trisha Yearwood on “How Far Can It Go?” If you hadn’t heard, Carrie Underwood is planning on releasing a gospel album which we just know will be magnificent. She gets things going by releasing “Softly And Tenderly.”

One of the more heartfelt songs that will definitely pull at your heartstrings is Craig Campbell’s “What A Girl Will Make You Do.” It’s a sweet song that follows the evolution of dating, marriage, and fatherhood. Then we get the great Tracy Lawrence’s voice with a new song that is a fun listen in “Stairway to Heaven Highway to Hell.”

Jerrod Niemann slows things down with a romantic song “A Lifetime of Dancin’ to Do.” Lastly, we have Tiera and BRELAND coming together on “Miles.” The song is just made to be a smooth summer song as these two are some of the brightest future stars of country music.

Favorite Songs from Country Risers:

“If This is the End” – Josh Kerr and Shelby Darrall: If you’re unfamiliar with Josh’s work by now that’s on you. From his songwriting to his artistry, the guy is the real deal and I love adding a female’s voice to this song. Together, Josh and Shelby have a really nice sound as they sing about holding on by a thread, not wanting to call it quits quite yet.

“Unread” – Clare Dunn: She is such a great artist that is so consistent with creating great music. And this song is such a catchy jam with a creative song idea about the texting and dating problem of getting left unread. Crank this all the way up.

“That’s You” – Drew Baldridge: Drew wrote this song about his fiancé Katie and you can tell just how special this song is to him. It’s not a ballad as the production really moves this song forward, but it’s still a heartfelt and meaningful love song which I enjoy. This is the perfect song to release around Valentine’s Day too.
