In the late 90s, two of country music’s stars of the decade came together to write a song that would become a #1 hit.
Clint Black and Steve Wariner ended up writing together often throughout the 90s but their first song they ever wrote together was Black’s top hit “Nothin’ but the Taillights.” Released in 1998, the song would reach the top of the charts for his 11th #1 song.
Singing about the realization that a girl is speeding out the driveway and never coming back into his arms again, the song’s production would have you guessing otherwise. It’s a fun and catchy song that makes it a classic sing-a-long song.
The fact that it was written by two of the biggest stars at the time, makes the song that much better. A few months ago, the two of them performed this song together at The Grand Ole Opry.
