New In Nash: This Week in New Music

By Aaron Wagner

It’s a new year which means new music. Get to listening to the new music this week, because at the end of the week Morgan Wallen drops his double album which will occupy most of your time.

Hailey Whitters is out with “Fillin’ My Cup” featuring Little Big Town. Hailey wrote the song with proven hit makers Hillary Lindsey and Nicolle Galyon and with LBT being featured, we’re crossing our fingers that this is the song that gets Hailey her big break at radio.

A new year oftentimes means resolutions and goals, to which Mitchell Tenpenny cleverly planned the release of his new release “Bucket List.” While he shared with People that the song was written in 2019, after the year of 2020 he felt like it was the perfect time to release the song because life’s too short.

If you’re on TikTok, you may have seen Austin Burke teasing his latest release “Town Home” but playing clips for his wife, father, grandma, and other family members. The song was written for his wife Lexy, which the lyrics describe as the reason for making “this town home.”

Favorite Songs from Country Risers:

“To Be Loved By You” – Parker McCollum: Parker is keeping his momentum going with “Pretty Heart” reaching #1 on radio. I don’t see why this song wouldn’t be his next big hit at radio…it just sounds good.

“New York” – Eric Burgett: I’m just a fan of Eric’s voice and the music he’s been making. His use of piano in his music, including this new one, helps his songs stand out to me. I love when a song’s title stands out and intrigues you to listen and “New York” delivers on that and the romantic feelings we oftentimes feel when we think of NYC.

“One Day” – Josh Melton: Just another fun song that we need to kick off the new year. It’s a phrase we often hear — I’ll do that one day — but Josh sings about not waiting for that undefined, future date where he would most certainly push it off again. He’s going to live life now. It’s a cool song.
