Throwback Jam: Reba McEntire’s “I’d Rather Ride Around With You”

By Aaron Wagner

While not one of her more notable or recognizable songs, Reba McEntire’s 1997 song “I’d Rather Ride Around With You” became a top hit for her.

Written by Tim Nichols (“Girls Lie Too”, “Heads Carolina, Tails California”, “Live Like You Were Dying”) and Mark D. Sanders, the fun loving song from Reba would peak at #2, just missing out on the top spot. George Strait’s “Carrying Your Love With Me” blocked the song from reaching #1.

In typical Reba fashion, she included a creative and fun video to accompany the song. It’s Reba through and through.

One interesting thing while scouring the web for interesting facts or hidden tidbits about the song, I stumbled across a cover of the song from another iconic country music singer….Carrie Underwood. There are apparently demo recordings from Carrie when she was in her early teens. One of them just happens to be Reba’s “I’d Rather Ride Around With You.”
