NEW IN NASH: This Week in New Music

By Aaron Wagner

Dan + Shay dropped new music with the release of “I Should Probably Go To Bed.” Gut reaction has me not loving it while Emily does. What’s your verdict? Rascal Flatts released their EP which might be the last time we ever get new music from the iconic group. “Looking Back” is one of my early favorites, especially since Thomas Rhett is one of the cowriters.

I absolutely love Lauren Alaina’s voice and I’m so excited for her future. She announced a new EP due out this fall while releasing “Run” from that upcoming project. Eric Church released a new one this week in “Bad Mother Trucker.” I’m still unsold on it as it seems like he has this new vibe he’s trying to give off.

You and the Islands” is the latest from Zac Brown Band this week and then we get a catchy new one from Brothers Osborne. “Hatin’ Somebody” is a hilarious summer jam that you’ll need to check out.

Riser Lainey Wilson released a boot stomping southern tune “Small Town, Girl.” Her career is about to take off. Tyler Rich recorded a new song at home and released it this week. “Feels Like Home” is an acoustic song that shows of Rich’s voice.

Randy Travis released “Fools Love Affair”, a new song that he had recorded many years ago but never officially released. Gary Allan has arguably the best song released this week in “Waste of a Whiskey Drink.” The song was written by HARDY, Mark Holman (“Simple”) and Josh Kear (“Need You Now”, “Neon Light”, “Before He Cheats”).

My 3 Favorite Songs from Country Risers:

“Cowboy’s Cowgirl” – Chad Cooke Band: Love the sound from this new country band from Houston. This new one shows off their timeless sound while still being relevant in today’s country. Clever phrasing like “cowboy’s cowgirl” always hooks me in.

“Then Some” – Nikita Karmen: Nikita just has this fun pop-country vibe about her music that’s really catchy. Then I saw she wrote this song with Walker Hayes and had him on the track and knew without listening that I’d have this song on repeat for the next week. Her voice is so damn good and brings this song to life.

“Pick Me Up” – Halle Kearns: Halle is a songwriter who is making her artist debut this week. “Pick Me Up” is one of those catchy productions mixed with clever songwriting that makes the song such a joy to listen to. Keep an eye on Halle the rest of this year going forward.
