New In Nash: This Week in New Music

By Aaron Wagner

Keith Urban continues to pump out nothing but catchy tunes. “Superman” is his latest fun release. The Dixie Chicks dropped their highly anticipated Gaslighter album this week. In addition to the title track, give “Sleep at Night” an early listen.

Counting on the Weather” is the latest from Cassadee Pope and I’m continuously impressed by her vocals. LANCO is a band with such a distinctive sound, not only in their voices but in the production of their songs. “Save Me” is the group’s newest release this week as they sing about finding their saving grace.

I love Cam’s voice so much and was so excited to see new music from her. The peppy and uptempo “Classic” is the new one from her. Tucker Beathard released a 5 song EP and the titled track “Faithful” is a must listen this week. One of Nashville’s best songwriters Lori McKenna continues to release new songs of her own as she gears up for an album drop. “The Balladeer” is Lori through and through.

A Thousand Horses is a band that is due for a major breakout and their new song this week “A Song to Remember” just might be the one that gets them there. Canadian country duo The Reklaws dropped an absolute drinking jam this week. “Beer Can” is one that you can crank up on the lake or in the backyard at a bonfire.

Rising artist Olivia Lane’s new song “Nothing Changes” serves as an inspiration and a similar theme as “why do the same things and expect different results?” Garrett Jacobs new tune this week is “Done Holding On” is a driving-tempo song about trying to let go of a former flame.

Bree Doster is one of my favorite up and coming artists. I think she has immense talent and potential as she displays in her summer song “Steal My Summer.” Early 2000s star Jamie O’Neal is back with new music for the first time since 2014 in her latest with “Wreck Me.”

My 3 Favorite Songs from Country Risers:

“Dirt On It” – Josh Logan: I love how Josh takes a very mundane and simple concept of “dirt” and makes it come to life with meaning in his new song.

“I Wanna” – Justin Love: This song is catchy right off the bat. It’s one of those songs that you find yourself listening to over and over again as he sings about those first few moments of being attracted to someone. If you listen closely this sounds like a mix of a Keith Urban and Hunter Hayes song.

“The F Word” – Josh Kiser: Oftentimes, songs in country music may seem repetitive, there’s nothing necessarily wrong with that. But once in awhile a song comes along that really stands out for being original. That’s what Josh has on his hands as he sings about getting friendzoned. Kudos for putting so much raw emotion into this song.
