New in Nashville: This Week in New Music

By Aaron Wagner

Gabby Barrett released her highly anticipated album Goldmine this week. An early favorite to check out is “Thank God.” While Rascal Flatts is headed toward retirement, they’re going to leave a few parting gifts with new music as they released “How They Remember You.”

The most underrated artist in country is Logan Mize and he dropped a heartfelt song in “Prettiest Girl in the World.” This week’s collaboration that stands out is Josh Turner and Chris Janson teaming up for the country anthem “Country State of Mind.”

Clint Black released a new album this week Out of Sane and the song title that jumps out and is more than worth the listen is “America (Still In Love With You).”

One of our favorite under the radar acts, Smithfield, released “We’ll Figure It Out.” It’s not part of their upcoming EP, rather they’ve had this song for a bit and figured with everything going on in the world, now would be the perfect time to share it with the world.

Ryan Griffin is quickly becoming one of my favorite lyricists and he does it again with his latest “One Prayer Left.” Then Tyler Rich continues to release fun songs as “Feels Like Home” is the song that talks about how your favorite bar doubles as a second home.

Nick Wayne can sing a ballad. He’s got some serious pipes, but his new release this week “American Original” is a groovy mid-tempo number. Canaan Cox dropped a song that is so appropriate for Father’s Day it’s a must listen. You need to check out “He Loved Me.”

My 3 Favorite Songs From Country Risers:

“If I Loved You Then” – Joe Bryson: I really enjoyed this song as he sings about how timing can be everything and that we can be glad we didn’t meet our special person when we were young and foolish. Joe’s unique voice helps this song stand out to listeners.

“Superman” – Davey Arnold: This week’s award for a song that will pull at your heartstrings and emotions goes to this song. Davey wrote this as an ode to his father. Major props for not overcomplicating the production and letting Davey’s voice shine.

“Porcelain” – Caitlyn Shadbolt: This is such a cool concept for a song and I really loved Caitlyn’s vocals on this new tune. From a production standpoint it’s so damn catchy and you find yourself hitting repeat.
