New In Nashville: This Week In New Music

By Aaron Wagner

Luke Bryan has arguably the best song this week in “Build Me A Daddy.” What can’t be argued is that you’re going to need some tissues when you listen to it. This week also gave us two new songs from Maren Morris. “Just for Now” and “Takes Two” are a couple of songs Maren has had stashed away that she “polished up” during the quarantine.

One of the more unique songs this week comes from Keith Urban as he teams up with Canadian DJ Dzeko on “Both Still Young.” Another song that will make you choke up is “The Man Who Loves You The Most” from Zac Brown Band. It’s the perfect song for Father’s Day and a great selection for a father-daughter dance.

Craig Morgan salutes the hospital workers who were working on the front lines during COVID with a powerful and faith based song called “The Mask.” Matt Stell had a smash hit with “Prayed For You” and he might have his next smash with his latest release “If I Was a Bar.”

Gone West released their debut album Canyons and Clare Dunn released her new EP HONESTLY a personal collection. Start off listening to “Gamblin’ Town” on Gone West’s project and “Sweet Talk” from Clare Dunn’s.

Gabby Barrett is set to drop her debut album later this week and gives fans another sneak peak with “Footprints On the Moon” this week. Levi Hummon’s new tune this week “Rock and Roses” sings about always apologizing but never being able to truly fix things.

One of the best songwriters in country music Lori McKenna’s next album is coming out at the end of July but she dropped another song from the project with “Good Fight.” Then there’s Temecula Road, a young band with immense star potential. The group is sending their first song to radio and it’s actually a cover of Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb” but they make it their own and it’s so well done.

My 3 Favorite Songs From Country Risers:

“Can’t Look Away” – Badland Sons: Some songs you find yourself singing along word for word by the second time you hear it. That’s what Badland Sons have with this energetic song about crushing on someone.

“June” – Raihanna Estrada: This is such a well-written song. I love everything about how Raihanna crafted the lyrics to tell a summer story. Her voice though? This girl is going to go places.

“Happened on a Saturday Night” – Tebey: The perfect anthem for summer and youthful days. I’ve had this one on repeat all weekend long. Tebey has something really special on his hands.
