Our first artist to watch in 2020 is Hannah Ellis.
Hannah Ellis has one of the best voices that most of country music fans haven’t had the pleasure of hearing yet. I’ve been fortunate enough to hear her live a few times and she’s the real deal. If you’re looking for the next artist to have a breakout year a la Carly Pearce, Hannah Ellis is that artist.
She spent last year on CMT’s Next Women of Country Tour along with Cassadee Pope and Clare Dunn. She released arguably her two best songs to date with “Your Woman” and “Friends Like These.”
In addition to releasing her own songs, she’s continued to have some of the songs she’s written recorded and released on other artists album. She wrote two big songs about trying to move on after a relationship in Cassadee Pope’s “If My Heart Had a Heart” and Filmore’s “Heart’s Having a Hard Time” where she also lends her vocals to during the chorus. Ellis also had one of her songs cut by Carly Pearce on her upcoming album due out next month.
It’s a matter of when, not if, she’s going to break out in my mind. She’s the total package and I really think 2020 is the year you’re going to begin to hear a lot more from Hannah Ellis.
