She’s on the fast track to becoming the queen of country music in Canada. And if we’re being honest, she’s going to make herself a household name in Nashville.
Meet Meghan Patrick, a Canadian singer-songwriter, who just earned her first ever number one song this past week with “Walls Come Down.” It’s an uptempo, yet somber song about dealing with losing the feeling of love for someone else.
Before she began her journey as a solo artist, she was the lead singer of The Stone Sparrows, a popular roots group in Canada. She released her debut album Grace & Grit in 2016 and ended up with four Top 20 songs off of that debut album. The most notable song on that album was a duet with Joe Nichols which cracked the Top 10 called “Still Loving You.”
Sometimes the hard part about creating music as a new artist is avoiding a “sophomore slump” and creating a second album that is just as good, if not better. And Patrick sure has. In January of 2018 she released Country Music Made Me Do It. It features the title track which reached #5, “The Bad Guy,” which reached #12, and then at last, her first number one song with “Walls Come Down.”
If you’re a fan of Miranda Lambert, Lee Ann Womack, and Leann Rimes then Meghan Patrick is the artist for you. With smooth vocals, some Miranda-esque spunk, and just great music she’s definitely someone you need to keep your eyes on. Her sound is this amazing blend of 90s country with some modern sound to it as well. We can’t overstate just how nice of music she makes.
We’re so excited for her future.
(She’s currently dating Mitchell Tenpenny, so we’re going to need a powerhouse duet sometime soon as well.)
