UK Country Spotlight: Brown & Gray

Brown & Gray is a duo that is 1/2 British and 1/2 American. But they’re so talented that we had to include them in our UK Country features.

The British half of the group is Sam Gray who is an accomplished producer, songwriter, and singer in London. He has collaborated with many artists including Hardwell. He’s a really talented guy with many gifts which makes him an asset in the recording industry.

He teams up with his American counterpoint Kaci Brown, who can’t get more country and American than being born in Texas. Although, she did spend time exploring a pop career touring with the likes of the Backstreet Boys and opening for Rihanna and Gavin DeGraw. She’s even featured on a Bone Thugs-n-Harmony song. True story.

Brown & Gray have had a busy 2018 gaining exposure as they have played at numerous country music festivals including Watershed and Faster Horses. So they’re hopefully gaining more fans as they tour the country. That’s crucial as they look to build a fan base and continue the momentum.

Their voices mash together so uniquely as Gray’s somewhat raspy voice combines with Brown’s rich “pop-like” vocals for a really interesting sound. It’s different than the type of country music you may be use to but there is definitely cross-over appeal, which is paramount in the industry’s goal of growing country music in the UK.

The sky is truly the limit for this unique duo. They’re able to pivot from traditional sounding country to pushing the envelope with a newer country sound that many may be unfamiliar with. They’re definitely worth the listen.
