Who doesn’t love a bit of nostalgia? We all reminisce about the good ole days and how they were the best of times and nothing will ever be as good. Of course this isn’t always the case, but when you can put those feelings into a three minute song, there’s no doubt that song is going to be a hit.
Mark Wills released “19 Somethin’” in late 2002, and it would go on to spend 6 weeks at number one. Written by David Lee and Chris DeBois (who has written every other Brad Paisley) the song also went on to claim the number two song of the DECADE according to Billboards Hot Country Songs Chart.
And while I didn’t grow up wearing bell bottoms or listening to eight tracks tapes, I remember having to rewind VHS tapes at the end of the movie and playing M.A.S.H. with all my friends. Everyone has their own version of this song, which is what makes it so universal and relatable, no matter your age or the decade you were born in. This is definitely a song that can live on a long time…until we are singing “it was 2020 Somethin’…”
