Artist You Need to Know: Brandon Lay

If you’re seeing Kenny Chesney on tour this summer I have one suggestion: have a blast before the concert but try to make it into the stadium in time to hear the first act that takes the stage. Brandon Lay.

Brandon Lay is an immensely talented up and coming singer who is spending his weekends this summer touring with Kenny Chesney, Thomas Rhett, and Old Dominion. Not a bad gig at all.

Brandon Lay grew up in a small town in Tennessee between Memphis and Nashville where he lived the life of a small town kid playing sports and listening to his father preach on Sunday mornings. Lay has an album ready to go, but is planning on releasing that in the future as he tries to build up his following by periodically releasing singles. That seems to be working for him as he’s touring with Kenny and becoming an artist to keep an eye on the rest of this year and looking ahead to 2019.

Speakers, Bleachers, and Preachers – This song has been played over 37 million times on Spotify. It’s his most well-known song to date and is a relatable song that he penned from the heart with the help of talented Nashville songwriter Shane McAnally.

Heads Carolina, Tails California (Jo Dee Messina Cover) – A different spin on an uptempo 90s favorite but he showcases his full range and smooth voice.

Wilder Horses – An overall great song about a past relationship and wanting to relive those days over again because it was so much fun.

Yada Yada Yada – This one is his latest release and is being added by more radio stations on a weekly basis, so hopefully this makes its mark on the airwaves. Yada Yada Yada is a fun song about ditching the “bros” to spend time with your girl.
